We couldn't do what we do without our wonderful Shepherd's Star volunteers - they help with every event and project, and we are so proud of their dedication and commitment to support our local community.

Our gardening volunteers were invited to bring some colour to the garden of Twickenham United Reformed Church ahead of our Coronation Celebration. A local resident donated a gardening voucher and our team, under the lead, expertise and skill of @oakleylandscapes, worked their magic to transform the garden!

Thank you to our magnificent community volunteers who supported us on the day of the Coronation and in the lead up to it - we are so grateful for your help ✨

We had such a wonderful community celebration yesterday, with over 100 guests joining us for our Royal Tea Party. Thank you to our amazing hosts, Twickenham United Reformed Church, @calico_thieves, Polly the face painter and each and every one of our volunteers and bakers, without whom yesterday would not have been possible - and to @richmondcouncil who funded our party.

Last night we had the great privilege of attending the @richmondcouncil Community Awards. One of our Shepherd's Star Ambassadors, Kat Oakley was nominated as a community hero for her outstanding contribution in 2022.

Although she didn't win on this occasion, it's an honour to have her recognised for the work she invests into our local community. We are so proud of her!

We were delighted to be invited back to the @trjfptwickenham last night to revisit our training on De-escalating Challenging Behaviour. The Real Junk Food Project- Twickenham has opened a few new venues (details can be found here: https://www.trjfptwickenham.com/) and invited our team to host this workshop for their new volunteers and managers.

Today we hosted our March Table of Hope in the beautiful @binghamriverhouse! What a joy to gather around a communal table in celebration of International Women's month and the Easter holidays.

We were honoured to have Madam Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Julia Cambridge as our guest of honour, as well as Samantha Trinder, from the Bingham Riverhouse.

With grateful thanks to the incredible team who served us with such excellence, and to our volunteers who helped us throughout the event. We couldn't have done it without you!

Thank you too, to @pots_and_co for our glorious dessert and to @harringtondesignbuild for our goodie bags for each guest and for the six Easter Hampers donated as raffle prizes. It was such a special day!

Our Spring term of Explore is well under way! 🎈

Already two weeks in, we have been delighted to welcome Susannah Day from Social Shrub (@socialshrub ) who kickstarted our sessions off with an icebreaker, followed by a wellness session by Susie from her @lovemeprogramme .

In week one, @relish.and.grace ran an informative workshop on healthy eating finishing with a practical hands-on cooking class with everyone making lunch together! This was followed by chef Mary, who taught us how to bake delicious victoria sponges.

This week, we welcomed Lee, from Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College who shared on the wonderful courses being offered at Richmond's local college. Following a delicious lunch provided by @harringtondesignbuild our participants were invited to the @livewell_kew in Kew, for a barista and hospitality training session, hosted by Rafa and Timea Fabian.

Our Valentine's Table of Hope was a glorious expression of LOVE! ❤

We were so grateful to host our monthly communal lunch at the Twickenham United Reform Church (http://www.twickenhamurc.org.uk/) - catered for by a local resident, the amazing Mary and her team of volunteers.

We celebrated birthdays, friendships, great food, fabulous raffle prizes and of course, our wonderful community!

With huge thanks to everyone who made this month's Table of Hope possible - from our volunteers, to our befrienders, to our sponsors: @harringtondesignbuild for their pancake dessert, treat bags for every guest, raffle prizes and Valentine's decor. It was a joy to celebrate with one another.

Our friends at @richmond_council and @ruils_community are hosting a free, walk-in event at YMCA @ymcawhitehouse on Thursday February 16 th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm to celebrate Great Mental Health Day.

Ruils will be offering free basic health checks as a part of the Health in Your Hands service. Anyone who gets a health check or completes a health survey, will be entered into a raffle.

Prizes include: a Xiaomi Mi Band 7 fitness watch, 3-month leisure pass from Richmond Council, food parcel from Holland and Barrett and Tesco and a Crystal electric hot water bottle.

Our Christmas Box Project is well underway with final preparations taking place yesterday: with grateful thanks to local parents and children who prepared everything for us ahead of today's packing production line and a HUGE thank you to the lovely Lucy (store manager) and Ronnie (online manager) from @sainsburys Manor Road who kindly donated 45kgs of bananas and 80 packs of parsnips towards our gift boxes!

Preparations are underway for our Christmas Box Project!

Today we received delivery of a fridge kindly donated and assembled for us by the wonderful Steve and team, of Rentafridge (www.rentafridge.co.uk) to store our perishable items, and started the great shop to fill each box with a delicious Christmas dinner and treats for our Achieving for Children families.

We are so grateful for the incredible support - over £5700 has been raised so far! Thank you to the local residents, charitable organisations, schools, businesses and families, who have partnered with us to make this happen.

Thank you too, to the @Cambrian Centre for loaning us their premises next week, enabling us to begin the production line of packing! ✨

We were delighted to celebrate our ✨ CHRISTMAS ✨ Table of Hope at the community pub, @angelcrown_richmond in Richmond!

Hannah & Geo served up a delicious roast to our Shepherd's Star community - thank you for opening your doors and hearts to those in need this Christmas!

It's the month of Thanksgiving and today, we are celebrating the abundance of the Harvest! 🍅 🥦 🫑 🧅 🥔 🌶

The Richmond Soup Kitchen starts this week and yesterday, our Shepherd's Star volunteers delivered a harvest of vegetables: all seeds sown in the community allotments of Kew Gardens and donated to the soup kitchen.

We love the community collaboration behind the provision of delicious, nourishing soup for those in need, over the dark, winter months.

At the @etnacentre today, we love the joy of our previous Explore participants, volunteering with the picking up of leaves - and the sight of Jerry, disappearing into the midst of them!

This week we celebrated our October Table of Hope at the @wearemortlake !

With grateful thanks to a local resident who sponsored this month's meal, cooked by our community chef Mary and @harringtondesignbuild - and all our volunteers who served us with such excellence.

Our gift bags were in celebration of Canadian Thanksgiving (as the owners of Harrington Design and Build are part Canadian) - as were our raffle prizes!

Our joy was made complete by the arrival of George: it was his birthday earlier in the week, so we were able to celebrate him with cake, candles and our Table of Hope community birthday song 🎈

"𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘶𝘱" - says Alex, one of our recent Explore graduates. Following on from his graduation of our Explore programme, Alex has been volunteering with Mary - our resident baker and hospitality lead - at the All-In-One Hub in Richmond. Mary has been mentoring Alex and Romaine in the kitchen, baking weekly for the All-In-One guests.

Today, we baked and ate a delicious cake together, in celebration of Alex's journey and his new part-time job. We are delighted to have walked alongside him over the last few months and so proud of all he has achieved.

We are delighted to announce our first ever Art Auction for Shepherd's Star. Made possible by local artist, Jo Holland.

The limited edition piece is inspired by nature and the orchid flower. Titled Allegria, Jo chose this piece to donate because of its etheric essence of the angelic realm and/or resembling a dove tending to its young.

There is a new constellation in the community - made up of many stars! ✨

This week we celebrated our first year of Shepherd's Star. Explore, Shine, Steps and Table of Hope were once dreams put forward, but now, one year on thanks to our founders, trustees, partners, supporters, friends and community, we have seen them breathed into life!

We are so grateful to each and every person, partner, organisation and community star who has invested their time, talents and treasures into Shepherd's Star over the last year...We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

A special thank you, to Madam Mayor, Cllr Julia Cambridge for joining us, the Bingham Riverhouse for their wonderful hospitality and Bramble & Moss for the stunning flowers.
